GAZA Ceasefire: ADRA Ramps Up Aid to Combat Hunger and Aid Vulnerable Communities

SILVER SPRING, MD (January 23, 2025) – The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is mobilizing critical, life-saving aid to support communities in Gaza following the recent Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement. The region has been ravaged by months of conflict, resulting in widespread loss of life, countless injuries, and millions displaced from their homes.

Although the ceasefire has temporarily opened humanitarian access to Gaza, essential resources such as food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and shelter remain in critical short supply. According to UN reports, more than 70% of the population is facing famine, and over 30% of children under the age of two are suffering from acute malnutrition. In response, ADRA is launching a fundraising campaign and collaborating with trusted partners to provide immediate food assistance, aiming to deliver daily meals to combat the escalating hunger crisis and support as many families as possible.

“ADRA is deeply committed to supporting the people of Gaza in urgent need. With the ceasefire offering a ray of hope, we remain steadfast in our mission to deliver emergency food aid and relief to the families, children, and communities struggling for survival. In this time of unimaginable hardship, ADRA is here to offer hope and begin the process of rebuilding lives. Let us keep the people of Gaza and the region in our hearts and prayers,” says ADRA International Vice President for Humanitarian Affairs, Imad Madanat. ”Together we can restore comfort and dignity to those who have lost so much.”

ADRA’s 2024 Gaza Response

Last year, ADRA partnered with the non-profit organization Anera to launch the Gaza Emergency Food Project, delivering critical food aid to nearly 30,000 people in some of the most affected areas of the conflict. This effort provided over 28,500 hot meals through community kitchens in North Gaza, distributed essential hygiene kits to help prevent disease, and delivered more than 7,300 food parcels containing vital staples like cooking oil, potatoes, and local seasoning spices. Building on this success, ADRA’s new Gaza fundraising campaign will scale up efforts to expand humanitarian aid and support even more families in urgent need.

Ways to Help

ADRA is seeking to raise at least $100,000 to deliver essential sustenance to those affected by this ongoing catastrophe. Every meal represents a glimmer of hope for families, children, and individuals enduring unimaginable hardship. A gift of any amount can make a life-saving impact.
