Beyond CLTS: An Approach to Co-Creating Localised Sanitation Strategies in Sanitation-Resistant Contexts. Learnings from FIOVANA’s Sanitation Improvement Interventions in Southeast Madagascar.
The BUREKA project provided support to beneficiaries in the Kasai region in DRC for early recovery and livelihood restoration through activities that improved food security, increased incomes, and reduced risks.
FIOVANA, meaning “change” in Malagasy, sought to reduce food insecurity and improve welfare among vulnerable populations in 476 fokontany, 60 communes, 6 districts located in the Atsimo Atsinanana and Vatovavy-Fitovanany regions of Southeast Madagascar.
FIOVANA’s target areas host vulnerable populations made up of nearly 40% youth. These young men and women face multiple challenges, including various socioeconomic obstacles. This study examines FIOVANA’s Youth Empowerment Strategy and project impacts.
