Your Financial Partnership… A Sacred Trust

We view your partnership with ADRA International as a sacred trust. We commit to be good stewards of the resources you generously share with us, truthful in our communications, and cost-effective in our fundraising.

ADRA International utilizes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as established by the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Governmental Account Standards Board. Our financial statements are audited annually by an independent chartered public accounting firm.

ADRA International is a charitable organization exempt from taxation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your gifts are tax-deductible as charitable contributions to the extent allowed under applicable law. Financial and other information about ADRA International’s purpose, programs and activities can be obtained online at ADRA.org/financials, or by mailing us at 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Maryland 20904, or by phone at 800.424.2372, or as shown in the footnote below. *

We also want you to have a clear understanding of how ADRA manages your matching and restricted gifts.

Matching Gifts

ADRA International may utilize any of the following types of matching gift campaigns to encourage financial contributions from new and current supporters:

  1. Dollar for dollar. Every one dollar is matched by an additional dollar.
  2. Multiples match. Every one dollar is matched by an additional two or more dollars.
  3. Stretch match. Each gift is matched only if over a specified amount.
  4. Flat match. Every gift regardless of size is matched by a specific amount.
  5. Partial match. Every individual gift is matched up to a specified amount.

Treasure Chest is the name of ADRA’s matching gift fund. Gifts to fund Treasure Chest match offer campaigns are typically solicited from major donors and may also be crowdsourced from other supporters using various communication channels including direct mail, email, and ADRA’s website. All pre-match funds are placed in a restricted account and released for operations when matched by other supporters.

ADRA clearly describes the conditions for each match offer including end date, total funds offered in the match, and the appropriate methods for responding to the offer. Solicitations for gifts in response to the match offer are coded by specific appeal and for each communication channel. The gifts in response to each match offer are tracked and correlated with specific solicitations whenever the specified response methods are used. Gifts received using the methods specified in the offer but that do not otherwise meet the published conditions are not matched. Gifts received using a communication method not specified in the offer but designated as a match, match offer, or similar are considered to be a Treasure Chest pre-match gift and available for a subsequent match offer campaign.

Restricted Gifts

ADRA accomplishes its mission by accepting charitable contributions from its supporters. Unrestricted gifts best support ADRA’s mission and give the organization the flexibility to use the funds where needed most. In addition, ADRA is currently accepting the following types of restricted gifts.

Programs by Region

Africa
America (Central)
America (North)
America (South)
Asia
Europe

Programs by Type

Agriculture
Education
Emergency response and preparedness

Refugees and displaced persons
Water, sanitation, and hygiene

In some cases, ADRA International may be able to accept gifts designated for ADRA offices in specific countries as well as the combination of an ADRA office location and a specific program type. For locations where such options do not exist, or when ADRA does not maintain a restricted fund with the level of specificity indicated on gift documents, the funds given will be redesignated by ADRA for a program that is as similar as possible in location and type. When a gift designation has been materially changed by ADRA, the donor is provided with written notification and given the opportunity to remove the original restriction, redesignate their gift to another existing restricted fund, or request that their gift be refunded.

ADRA International reserves the right to change the use of any gift for any purpose consistent with its tax-exempt mission in the event the designated purpose has already been achieved or the gift no longer fits within the scope of ADRA’s mission or programs.

Ten percent of all gifts restricted by location and/or program type are retained by ADRA International for administrative purposes including the administration, monitoring, and evaluation of the activities associated with the program for which the funds have been designated.

ADRA is honored to be a partner with you as bring justice, compassion, and love to a world of people so that all may live as God intends.
