ADRA supporter Joseph Rollakanty shared a generous gift to support those in India who were recently hit by a devastating surge in COVID-19 cases. He then challenged his church to join him in making an impact and they matched his generosity to double the gift! He was kind enough to share his thoughts with us about why he gives through ADRA:

I had been hearing about ADRA since my high school days. I heard lots of good stories about it. I thank God for ADRA and its relief activities around the world. ADRA always had been there when disasters struck. Unfortunately, disasters are striking everyday around the world and many communities are living in a vulnerable circumstance with no local help. The COVID-19 disaster is the worst and one of the most dangerous of all crises we have seen. It changed almost all aspects of our life.

It was shocking to hear the Indian news channels reporting 3,800 or more deaths per day and most of these deaths are linked to oxygen shortage. Having once been a biology teacher myself, I know how difficult it is to struggle to breath to survive. It is a terrible feeling and doctors are helpless and can do nothing about it.

When my church pastor, Pastor Franklin David of the Southern Asian Seventh-day Adventist Church, announced the need for an oxygen plant in India, I felt that it is important to respond with whatever God had blessed me with.

God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others and finding God when we need Him is as important as God finding us when others are in need of us.

I am proud to be a 3rd generation Seventh-day Adventist. It gives me great joy to be a tiny supporter of ADRA and its activities around the world, particularly in India. Its generous support in battling COVID-19 crisis in India is beyond comprehensible. May God bless and protect ADRA and its staff as they continue to serve around the world.

Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Rollakanty for your partnership with ADRA!
