Home to the World’s most Refugees

Lebanon is home to 6.5 million Lebanese and 1.5 million Syrian refugees, giving the small Middle East nation the distinction of hosting the highest proportion of refugees in the world. Since 1975, the United States has welcomed more than 3 million refugees, or less than one percent of the entire population. By contrast, nearly 25 percent of the population of Lebanon are refugees.
