On October 11, 2026, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) released a preview for a new devotional, “Serving Like Jesus: Love in Action,” during ADRA’s report to the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s Executive Committee at the 2026 Annual Council. The full devotional will be released at Spring Council, 2027.
“This book is, above all, a testament to the countless individuals who choose each day to serve others in Christ’s name,” says Paulo Lopes, president of ADRA International. “Through their compassion, courage, and unwavering commitment, ADRA staff and volunteers bring hope to the hopeless, dignity to the forgotten, and practical expressions of God’s love to those who need it most.”
“Serving Like Jesus: Love in Action” was created in connection with the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s OneVoice27 initiative, “All Things New: Hope Starts Here.” The devotional includes more than 220 stories from 75 countries, reflecting themes of justice, compassion, faith, love, and service through the experiences of ADRA staff and the communities they serve around the world.
The devotional invites readers to embrace a more intentional life of mission. It also connects ADRA’s humanitarian ministry with the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, while highlighting the role ADRA staff and volunteers play around the world as they put faith into action through service to people facing crisis, poverty, displacement, and injustice.
“My prayer is that these stories will inspire us, as individuals and as a church, to embrace service as a sacred calling and to fully recognize the vital role ADRA plays in God’s mission,” says Sharon Aka, editor of the devotional and director of Adventist Partnerships for ADRA International.
