ADRA Responds to Drought & Hunger in the Horn of Africa

About the Emergency

ADRA is responding to emergency drought conditions in the Horn of Africa where countries are experiencing the effects of multiple below-average rainfall cycles. The ongoing drought, as well as conflict, rising costs, and lingering pandemic-related supply chain issues, have led to a hunger crisis that now threatens the lives of millions in the region.

  • 90% of Somalia has been severely affected with an anticipated fifth consecutive failed rainy season ahead
  • 7 million livestock have died, cutting sustenance and livelihoods

ADRA’s Response

ADRA has already reached more than 9,000 people affected by this crisis with urgent resources and support. Ongoing plans will reach thousands more in the coming weeks and months.
