The vast majority of our projects are divided into nine big areas of operation: Emergency Response and Post-Crisis Recovery, Management of Shelters and Passing Houses, Education Promotion, Food Security and Hunger Mitigation, Community Health Support and Promotion, WASH, Livelihoods, Women Empowerment, and Assistance to Minors in Vulnerable Situations. In 2022, ADRA Brazil implemented 201 development projects in these areas, and twenty-two emergency response projects.
The Venezuelan Migration Crisis is currently the biggest challenge for ADRA Brazil, which has been implementing projects with USAID/BHA and partnerships with UN Agencies since 2018 in the sectors of Food Security, WASH, Health, Nutrition, and Livelihoods. In 2022, ADRA Brazil has supported over 50,000 Venezuelan refugees and migrants to have better access to food and services in different areas of the country. In the forefront of Emergency Responses, ADRA Brazil’s truck, called “Carreta Solidária,” has been helping people affected by floods and landslides with hot meals and laundry services, being one of the most sought-after response plans in Brazil alongside with our distribution plan of electronic vouchers for food and hygiene and cleaning items. ADRA Brazil also engages in development projects for specific groups, such as shelters for mentally challenged persons of medium and high complexity, shelters for children that have had their rights violated by their families, projects with teenage girls that need guidance for dealing with reproductive health challenges and early pregnancies, sports initiative for children living in vulnerable areas, and a technical school for children from traditional communities in the Amazon Forest.
