If you’ve been part of ADRA’s family for long, you know that we love water!

Cada día vemos el poder salvador del agua en la vida de las personas en todos y cada uno de los lugares en los que trabajamos. El Día Mundial del Agua es el 22 de marzo, pero aquí tienes algunas formas de celebrar el agua con nosotros cada día.

Water Day is an annual observance that brings attention to the importance of clean water and the ways in which it improves and saves lives. We at ADRA believe that access to clean water is a basic human right and a fundamental aspect of God’s creation.

Clean water is essential for daily health and well-being. It is a necessity for everyday drinking, cooking, and sanitation, and without it, diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea can spread easily. In fact, according to the World Health Organization, around 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes.

Three ways to celebrate clean water

1. Raise a Glass

If you’ve got water safe enough to drink, value it! 1 in 3 people lack safe drinking water, which equals more than 2 BILLION people. And if you haven’t given good thought to your toilet recently, it might be time to give it a celebratory flush too. More than 4 billion people don’t have the luxury of this necessity, leaving them with chronic illness and safety risks that come with doing your business outside and close to water sources.

And, of course, choosing to be water-wise and conserving this precious resource in your usage is a great way to respect what you have.

2. Join the Conversation

Having access to appropriate water, sanitation, and hygiene resources is a global issue, so it’s no surprise that the conversation is global too! Experts and everyday folks alike are sharing facts, feelings, and big ideas for the future across social media channels.

Feeling left out? It’s easy to join in! Use #WorldWaterDay to check out what others are saying and add your insights.

3. Get Involved

The #1 question we get at ADRA is “What can I do?” It’s understandable that when you hear what life is like for families and communities around the world who are going without access to safe water resources, you want to help. It’s easier than you think to bring real change to someone in need—the solution is just a click away with a gift to ADRA!

We know that many of you want to do more than make a donation, but your monetary contribution means flexibility to provide exactly what someone needs when they need it most, so it’s the most powerful way to provide access to clean water and other urgently needed resources.
