{"id":5999,"date":"2016-05-20T12:53:02","date_gmt":"2016-05-20T12:53:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/adra.org\/?p=5999"},"modified":"2026-04-02T18:58:12","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T18:58:12","slug":"adra-to-attend-world-humanitarian-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/adra.org\/pt\/adra-to-attend-world-humanitarian-summit","title":{"rendered":"ADRA to Attend World Humanitarian Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>ADRA Commits to Action for the World Humanitarian Summit<\/h2>\n<p>ISTANBUL, TURKEY \u2013 Jonathan Duffy, President of Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) International, and Frank Teeuwen, Director of United Nations (UN) Liaison Office, will be representing ADRA\u2019s global network of humanitarians at the first-ever World Humanitarian Summit set to take place in Istanbul on 23-24 May 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Duffy will also be making a spoken statement of ADRA\u2019s Commitments to Action at a special session during the Summit. ADRA\u2019s Commitments to Action will highlight the priorities of the organization in development and emergency work around the world. Mr. Duffy\u2019s statement will specifically focus on two of the five core responsibilities outlined in the UN Secretary-General\u2019s Agenda for Humanity:<\/p>\n<p>Core Responsibility #3: Leave no one behind<\/p>\n<p>Core Responsibility #4: Change people\u2019s lives \u2013 from delivering aid to ending need<\/p>\n<p>The Summit is a global call to action by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Approximately 5,000 participants received invitations, including Heads of States and Government, as well as global leaders from government, business, aid organizations, civil society, and affected communities.<\/p>\n<p>The Summit has three main goals:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To re-inspire and reinvigorate a commitment to humanity and to the universality of humanitarian principles.<\/li>\n<li>To initiate a set of concrete actions and commitments aimed at enabling countries and communities to better prepare for and respond to crises, and be resilient to shocks.<\/li>\n<li>To share best practices which can help save lives around the world, put affected people at the center of humanitarian action, and alleviate suffering.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">###<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sobre a ADRA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Ag\u00eancia Adventista de Desenvolvimento e Assist\u00eancia (ADRA) Internacional \u00e9 o bra\u00e7o humanit\u00e1rio da Igreja Adventista do S\u00e9timo Dia.
