ADRA is responding to flooding in Brazil after intense and prolonged rainfall caused by the El Niño effect.

Our response focuses on two Brazilian states that were hit hard by the rainfall. The majority of waterways in Rio Grande do Sul have risen above their capacity, displacing thousands of families in heavily flooded areas. Rivers in Santa Carina have also surpassed their limits, blocking access to some areas and also leaving thousands displaced.
In Rio Grande do Sul, ADRA Brazil is responding with food for close to 5,000 residents, and hygiene kits as well. In Santa Carina, ADRA’s response will be a food kit distribution, but are also looking at other needs in the area.
