ADRA has distributed food packages to families displaced by flooding in southern India.

Floods have devastated Tamil Nadu state in India following weeks of heavy rain. Almost 270 people have died, and 1.8 million have been affected.
For people living in low-lying villages near lakes and rivers, water levels rose so rapidly they had to evacuate their homes without time to even collect a few belongings. Those who have been able to return to their homes have found essential items, including food and cooking utensils, lost, damaged or destroyed. Many have also lost their homes and livelihoods.
ADRA worked with local officials and other NGOs to conduct an initial needs assessment. Based on this assessment ADRA has distributed food packages to 900 families in Cuddalore and Chennai.
