A 65-year-old woman with nine children, Tshibi Tshitambala&#8217;s story is a testament to the transformative power of education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tshibi Tshitambala\u2019s life was marked by early marriage and financial difficulties. She lacked the basic education that many take for granted. But her recent successes paint a picture of hope and resilience, thanks to the intervention of ADRA Bureka-II project funded by USAID\/BHA Numeracy and Literacy Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tshibi Tshitambala Les premi\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de Jos\u00e9phine ont \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9es par l'adversit\u00e9. Pendant des d\u00e9cennies, elle a v\u00e9cu avec le regret de ne pas savoir lire ou \u00e9crire, ce qui l'a emp\u00each\u00e9e de s'engager pleinement dans sa communaut\u00e9 et de subvenir aux besoins de sa famille comme elle le souhaitait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Tshibi Tshitambala\u2019s life took a significant turn when Bureka-II started a literacy program in her village. This initiative aimed to empower adults who, like Tshibi Tshitambala, were denied educational opportunities earlier in life. The aim of the program was clear: to intensify literacy and numeracy training for women, giving them new literacy and numeracy skills and strengthening their financial management skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au d\u00e9but, Tshibi Tshitambala a h\u00e9sit\u00e9. L'id\u00e9e de retourner dans une salle de classe apr\u00e8s tant d'ann\u00e9es \u00e9tait d\u00e9concertante. Les cours \u00e9taient adapt\u00e9s aux adultes ayant des besoins et des rythmes d'apprentissage diff\u00e9rents, et Tshibi Tshitambala s'est retrouv\u00e9e dans un environnement favorable o\u00f9 elle pouvait apprendre \u00e0 son propre rythme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program taught Tshibi Tshitambala\u2019s essential skills. She learned to read and write simple sentences and, most importantly, to write her own name &#8211; a milestone that filled her with great pride. These skills may seem fundamental to some, but for Tshibi Tshitambala Josephine, they represented a newfound independence and self-determination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most remarkable aspects of Tshibi Tshitambala Josephine&#8217;s journey is how her newfound literacy skills have positively impacted her family. Since Tshibi Tshitambala can read and write, she takes on the role of a tutor for her grandchildren. This role has allowed her to contribute to their education by assisting with homework and reading assignments. Her grandchildren, initially surprised by their grandmother&#8217;s new abilities, now see her as a source of support and encouragement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tshibi Tshitambala Josephine&#8217;s story doesn&#8217;t end with her personal successes, it extends to the broader community. Her success has inspired others in Mungamba to seek similar opportunities for themselves. She has become a symbol of what is possible when adults are given a second chance to learn. Tshibi Tshitambala often shares her experiences with others and encourages them to overcome their educational barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On ne saurait trop insister sur l'impact du programme d'alphab\u00e9tisation et de calcul de Bureka sur la vie de Tshibi Tshitambala Josephine. En lui fournissant des outils d'alphab\u00e9tisation, le programme a non seulement transform\u00e9 sa vie personnelle, mais lui a \u00e9galement permis de jouer un r\u00f4le plus actif et plus satisfaisant au sein de sa famille et de sa communaut\u00e9.
