The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is at the forefront of this humanitarian effort, providing critical assistance to migrants and refugees navigating perilous journeys. Among the countless stories of hope that illustrate ADRA’s mission is that of Emily, a 12-year-old Venezuelan girl whose life was transformed by ADRA’s intervention.

Emily’s Journey: From Fear to Safety

Emily’s story begins with a decision to follow a friend to Peru, leaving her family behind in Colombia, where they had lived as migrants for six years. Emily hoped for adventure, but the journey quickly turned into a nightmare. Alone and vulnerable in an unfamiliar country, Emily faced the harsh realities of life as an unaccompanied minor. When her friend abandoned her, she had no one to turn to—until she encountered the compassionate support of ADRA.

At the border of Ecuador, Emily was guided by a kind stranger to ADRA’s comprehensive care space in Huaquillas. There, she found more than just immediate assistance; she found a community that offered safety, food, medical care, and emotional support. ADRA’s team, including Iliana and Michel, not only ensured Emily’s well-being but also worked tirelessly to reunite her with her family.

“ADRA sought contact with my mother so that we could meet again,” Emily shared. “I feel very happy because I am going to be with her again after so much time away. It is not good to be far from your mother.”

A Mother’s Gratitude

For Emily’s mother, Sanyelis Carrasquel, the reunion was a moment of overwhelming joy and relief. After months of separation, seeing her daughter safe and well cared for brought tears of gratitude.

“I feel very happy to have met Emily again,” said Sanyelis. “She looks so pretty, well-groomed, and well-taken care of. I am grateful to ADRA for their support, for keeping in touch with me, and for making this reunion possible. May God bless them.”

ADRA’s Global Impact

Emily’s story is just one of many that highlight ADRA’s unwavering commitment to supporting migrants and refugees. From providing shelters and medical care to facilitating family reunifications, ADRA operates in over 100 countries, addressing the unique challenges faced by displaced individuals.

Migrants often endure unimaginable hardships: long journeys, dangerous conditions, and separation from loved ones. ADRA’s work focuses on restoring dignity and hope, ensuring that every person receives the care they deserve. By collaborating with local communities, governments, and partner organizations, ADRA creates safe spaces where migrants can rebuild their lives.

On this World Migrant Day, Emily’s journey reminds us of the importance of standing in solidarity with migrants around the globe. Her story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of compassion. Organizations like ADRA play a crucial role in providing hope and healing to those who need it most.

Let us honor their efforts by advocating for the rights and dignity of migrants, supporting humanitarian initiatives, and spreading awareness about the challenges faced by displaced communities. Together, we can make a difference, one story at a time.

For more information about ADRA’s work or to support their mission, visit adra.org

Am Weltmigrantentag halten wir inne, um über die Widerstandsfähigkeit und den Mut von Millionen von Migranten weltweit nachzudenken und die Organisationen zu ehren, die sich unermüdlich für sie einsetzen.

[615,806,911,786,798
514,1138,841
post-37240","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-colombia","category-ecuador","category-global","category-venezuela","tag-migration","tag-partner","tag-world-migrant-day
["GET
